Angelo Bible College Statement of Faith
ANGELO BIBLE COLLEGE IS FOUNDED ON THE FOLLOWING DOCTRINES AND BELIEFS:
1. We believe in the on true God, the uncreated source of all life (John 5:26), who has revealed Himself as the great I AM (exodus 3:14). “For in him we live, and move, and have our being…” (Acts 17:28).
2. We believe in the triune God—God, the Father; God, the Son; and God, the Holy Spirit.
3. We believe that the Holy Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is God-breathed, divinely inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative, and perfectly excellent in revealing God’s purpose to all mankind.
4. We believe that God created man and was pleased with His creation (Genesis 1:31). Adam, who was the first man, rebelled against God and at that moment sin entered the world. The result of that sin is death. This sin brought physical death and also spiritual death which is eternal separation from God (Genesis 3). Due to the adamic nature of sin which has passed to all human beings born into the world, a Redeemer was needed to atone for sin.
5. We believe that Jesus Christ, the only beloved Son of God, is the Savior of the world.
6. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was born of a virgin that He was sinless in His humanity that He suffered, was crucified and was buried. He descended into hell where He took the keys of death and hell from Satan. He preached to the righteous dead in Paradise and took them to Heaven. The third day He arose from the dead and is presently seated at the right hand of God Almighty where He makes intercession on behalf of all the saints.
7. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will return in the clouds to “catch away” His bride, which is the church (1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17) and that event will be followed by a seven year period known as the Tribulation and then Christ will return to the earth with His bride to reign for one thousand years (Zechariah 14:5, Matthew 24:27, 30).
8. We believe that man as a triune being (having a physical body, a soul, and a spirit) will spend eternity in one of two places—heaven or hell. God leaves the choice to each individual and He will not override the human will. Man’s only hope of salvation and eternal life with God is the repentance of sin and the confession of the Lord Jesus as Savior and Lord (Romans 9:9, 10).
9. We believe that water baptism is one of two ordinances Jesus left to the church. Because Jesus was baptized in water, we, as believers, should follow His example. Water baptism is a declaration that we, as believers, identify with Christ in His death and burial and we are raised up with Him in newness of life. We believe water baptism is an outward expression of an inward commitment to Christ.
10. We believe in the baptism of Holy Spirit with fire and recognize this experience as distinct from the subsequent to the new birth. We recognize the Holy Spirit as the third Person of the Godhead who convicts of sin, indwells and enlightens believers, empowers believers with boldness for witnessing the strength to live godly lives. We believe the Holy Spirit constantly in fills the believer and imparts spiritual gifts as He wills for the equipping and edification of the saints.
11. We believe in the Lord’s Supper or Holy Communion as one of the two ordinances Jesus Christ left with the church. We believe partaking of the bread and wine as symbols of the Lord’s body and His blood is a declaration that we, as believers, identify with Christ and serve as a memorial of His suffering and vicarious death.
Student Standards
Standard of Conduct: A student’s personal conduct should reflect the Person and character of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Personal Habits: Students are expected to abstain entirely from any alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and/or illicit drugs. Proper behavior in relationships with the opposite sex is also expected.
Purposes and Objectives
Angelo Bible College was established for the purpose of preparing the people of God to do the work of God. The first important step toward fulfilling this goal in one’s life is proper preparation and that preparation cannot be considered adequate without a solid, firm foundation in the Word of God.
The philosophy of Angelo Bible College is that the people of God must possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Word to do the work God has called them to do. Angelo Bible College places particular emphasis upon the application of His truths to the individual lives of all students.
It is the belief of Angelo Bible College that this can only be accomplished through the ministry of the Holy Spirit as He is the ultimate Teacher and Revealer of God’s eternal purposes.
The goal of Angelo Bible College is to produce mature men and women of God who are equipped to fulfill God’s divine purpose in their lives—“…workmen that needeth not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness…” (Ephesians 4:14).
It is the desire of Angelo Bible College to assist each individual student as accomplishing the task set before him/her by nurturing a sense of destiny and purpose already at work in individual lives.
Students of Angelo Bible College will develop integrity of spirit by precept and by example and will exhibit the fruit of the spirit in their lives.
Professional competence and responsibility will be stressed and students will be encouraged to become active members of their communities, churches and ministries.
